Alumni Batches Step in to Weather the Storm

Amphan came as a ferocious cyclone and left a large part of West Bengal completely shattered. While most districts of West Bengal were impacted, the Sundarbans region is among the worst hit because it is an ecologically fragile zone. The region has never really recovered from the damages caused by Cyclones Aila, Fani and Bulbul in the past.

In such dire times, when miilions of people face the burden of losing their home and livelihood, not to mention lives, some batches of our BEC/IIEST alumni have stepped up to provide aid to the most affected.

Batch of 1992

The Batch of 1992 have been proactive in their support for the Amphan victims. They have also been instrumental in their help to fight the Covid-19 pandemic. This time, they collected a sum of Rs. 5 lacs and handed it over to the Bharat Sevasram Sangha, to help rebuild the lives of the most affected.

Batch of 1993

Another batch to come forward with their support was the Batch of 1993. They coordinated a relief endeavor with the Joygopalpur Gram Vikas Kendra, in the Sunderban area, and distributed food and necessary supplies to the villagers who were massively affected by the devastating cyclone.

Here is another touching video of their well organized effort in helping the village folks, in collaboration with the Joygopalpur Gram Vikas Kendra.

These are the kind of endeavours that assures us, however hard life can be at times, humanity is not lost and it will see us through eventually. These are the kind of acts that make us feel proud of our alma mater, and our alumni.
