Announcement of 9th Alumni Day 2022

Dear alumni/Alumnae

B E College/BEC(DU)/BESU/IIEST, Shibpur,

After last Sunday of the year was declared as ALUMNI DAY in 2014 for reasons known to you, we enjoyed physical ALUMNI DAY meets under bright winter sunshine in the beautiful campus of our beloved Alma mater for 6 (six) times from 2014 to 2019. We were compelled to stay away from physical meet in 2020 and 2021 due to pandemic which led to many restrictions and closing of the campus. However, we could not resist our desire to continue ALUMNI DAY and organized excellent Alumni Day programmes in 2020 and 2021 online in spite of some limitations.

While physical meets have a different flavour, online Alumni Day programmes were also enjoyable and particularly large participation of outstation alumni/alumnae worldwide in the online programmes was a special attraction.

It was decided last year that “Alumni Day 2022” would be in physical mode in the campus. Having experienced some merits of the online programmes in 2020 and 2021, we are thinking of organizing “Alumni Day 2022” in hybrid mode, at least for some of the events, subject to resolving some of the logistic issues.  

Global Association of the Alumni (GAABESU) cordially invites you along with your family to join the 9th Alumni Day scheduled to be held on Sunday, December 25, 2022. It will be a day of fun filled activities through meeting friends, brothers and sisters and their families and by participation in the business meeting, interesting cultural events, panel discussions, alumni day lunch, going round the stalls etc. An attractive printed copy of the Special Issue of Alumni Link will be given to the participants.

Our sincere effort in planning a “meaningful” event will not be successful and enjoyable without your active participation, help and support.

As you know, the event cannot be possible without adequate funds and objectives of GAABESU and a large section of alumni being focused on welfare of the students and development of the alma mater, any surplus of the fund will be utilized to fulfill the above objectives.

Besides registration for participation, we would welcome donations from alumni and others for the welfare objectives. Fifty Percent (50%) of such donations are exempted from Income Tax in India U/S 80G. GAABESU, being registered under FCRA, can accept contributions in Foreign Currency. In line with our practice, names of donors will be published in the special issue of Alumni Link, which will be brought out on the occasion of “Alumni Day 2022”.

We would also welcome patronage from the Corporate Sectors and other organisations. The ALUMNI DAY event attracts a large section of alumni of this prestigious institute, which offers a big opportunity for displaying  a brand. The rates for various categories of sponsorship, advertisement in souvenir and display of banners are given below.

3.       Accept terms and conditions and then click 'Proceed'

4.       Select State of Corporate/Institution- 'West Bengal' from the drop-down list

5.       Select Type of Corporate/Institution- 'Others' from the drop-down list

6.       Select 'GAABESU' from the drop-down list. A page with GAABESU name and logo will appear.

7.       Select category- "Membership or Donation'

8.       Enter all personal information in the Form that would pop up. (do not use any special characters like /,() etc.) Then select the Purpose of Payment. You need to choose "Alumni Day" from the list.

9.       Enter the amount to be paid and then proceed.

10.   Review the information.

11.   Select the preferred payment options- direct bank debit/debit card/credit card/cash payment at SBI branch etc.

12.   Make payments.

Alumni/Alumnae yet to become GAABESU Member are welcome to become GAABESU Life Member by filling and submitting attached membership form with prescribed fees and avail fees for registration of members and participate actively in the activities of GAABESU.

Special Issue of Alumni Link

A Special issue of Alumni Link will be brought out during “Alumni Day 2022”. A highly dedicated and efficient team has been assigned to look into all the aspects of the publication. We know many of our alumni/alumnae have exceptional talents in literature, paintings, photography etc. We will invite write-ups in the form of stories, exceptional experience, poems and also paintings, photos etc., which may be of interest to the readers, for publication in the Alumni Link.

The Sub-Committee to look after the publication will issue detailed guidelines and timelines for submission of materials for publication.
