EC members expect him to take lead in all "Student-Connect" activities, being the youngest in the sub-committee, a representative of the present millennium, and also still being close to present students. This would generally include ensuring student-volunteer participation in Alumni Day preparation activities, student participation in all seminars (online or offline), regular interaction with student bodies (including student senate GS), helping students & GAABESU for Scholarships, AFE/Research awards, Travel Grants, etc. For any help, he can always ask the EC, GAABESU Office or any member, specifically.
It was decided by the Executive Committee that no advance approval will be needed for new membership. 89 new members were added during the above period. After the new EC took over in end-Aug 2023, the new membership number is 120+.
It was proposed and decided in the 117th EC meeting (held on 04/11/2023) to request Prof. Arun Deb, former President-GAABESU to join EC as a ‘Permanent Invitee’. He has kindly agreed. We are still continuing our search for a person of high industrial background and a Lady candidate for the PI position.
Seminar committee, in collaboration with IIEST Civil Engineering Department, has arranged a Seminar on 'What an Employer Expects from Fresh Engineering Graduates' on 11th Oct 2023 in the campus. Also, as part of 10th Global Alumni Day, an online Seminar was arranged on 23rd December 2023, where we gave a warm welcome to our new Chairperson of the Board of Governors of IIEST, Ms. Tejaswini Anath Kumar. She participated in the seminar very gracefully and expressed her futuristic views for IIEST.
A new initiative has been taken by alumni supported by GAABESU, titled “IIEST Alumni Networking Project Team”, with a new team of volunteers. They have also arranged following webinars during this period.
Some more such programs are in the pipeline:
It is sad to mention here that during the period September 2023 to January 2024, we lost our following beloved Alumni:
GAABESU joins hands with the bereaved families in their prayers to grant the departed souls to rest in peace, and pray to God, the Almighty, to give strength and courage to bear with their irreparable losses.
With regards,
