GAABESU

Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE) conducted a prestigious event for automotive design amongst various engineering colleges. The student chapter of SAE of IIEST, Shibpur participated in the preliminary round of the competition with design of ATV (all-terrain vehicle). The initial short listing was done and the students had to produce the vehicle. Their design was more or less firmed up and they needed funds for manufacturing the vehicle. They approached GAABESU for financial support to participate in the competition in January 2020 for Design of an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle). They require a fund of approximately Rs. 6 lakhs.
GAABESU contributed Rs. 1 Lakhs from its Research fund and through an appeal to alumni community arranged another Rs. 2 Lakhs from Mr. Siladitya Ganguly, CEO of Regal Services and an alumnus of our institute (1979 CE). The amount handed over to the students in December 2019.
Update on 24.07.2020
The car was at the final stages of completion and some parts needed to be replaced and the panels had to be mounted on the vehicle. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the institute was closed and the work at the workshop were stalled. As a result of the pandemic, the organisers decided to postpone the event. The new dates of the event have not been released yet.
