Sushmita Bhattacharya completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology, from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, our beloved Alma Mater, in the year 2011.
She continued her education at IIT Bombay, where she received her Master's degree from the Department of Computer Science. She then worked with Honeywell Technology Solutions as a Data Scientist, followed by a stint as a Software Engineer at Microsoft India Development Center.
She continued her impeccable academic record as a student of School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering at Arizona State University, where she completed first two years of her Ph.D.
Presently, she is a third-year Ph.D. student in the John A. Paulson School Of Engineering And Applied Sciences (Computer Science) at Harvard University.
Sushmita has been named a 2022 Apple Scholar for her work in the fundamentals of machine learning. She is the first SEAS (School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) graduate student to receive the award, which was created in 2020 to recognize “the contributions of emerging leaders in computer science and engineering at the graduate and postgraduate level,” according to the program website.
Scholarship recipients receive funding, internship opportunities, and mentorship with Apple experts in their fields.
