The evening started with an interesting keynote address by Mr. Sarbojit Rakshit, followed by an informative presentation by Mr. Solomon Jones and an engaging address by Mr. Gautam Ray. After a brief introduction, he invited the first speaker of the evening, Prof. Anirban Gupta, who shared a very informative presentation on 'Drinking Water For Rural Life'.
Next speaker was Prof. Arup Sengupta, who unfortunately could not attend the webinar due to some other engagement, but was kind enough to share his TedX Talk on 'Transforming Water of Death to Life and Prosperity'. The pre-recorded video was played out to an eager audience who enjoyed every moment of this 16 minute presentation.
Dr. Samir Chatterjee was then invited to deliver his speech and he took us through an inspiring session on 'Opportunities in Health' particularly keeping in mind the Indian context.
What followed next was an eye opener for many in the audience. Ms. Mina Das, a relentless warrior for women's empowerment, took us through a mesmerizing session, complete with a well crafted video clip and an engaging speech, talking about the helpless plight of women in our rural society and how she and her women's squad had turned around the lives of people in the small village of Jugdia. This was complimented by two more speeches from an inspiring duo of spectacular young women, Miss Indrani Barik and Miss Sonia Dandapat, the two youth flag bearers of Nishtha, a social organization dedicated towards empowering women to fight for equal rights, equal opportunities and equal dignity.
And last, but definitely not the least, was a very touching narration by Ms. Anita Nashkar, a group leader in Nishtha, who kept us all dumbfounded through the harrowing tale of her own life, and then provided everyone with a comforting sense of hope, by sharing how she had turned it all around and found purpose in life, by helping others in her community.
These women made everyone in the audience aware of the multitude of issues faced by women, and how relentless their struggle is to make their voice heard.
After this deeply moving session from the women of Nishtha, it was finally the time to wrap up this eventful seminar.
