Our Alumni Feature in Wikipedia's List of Prolific Inventors

Over decades, several of our established alumni have made it big in the professional world, and have carved a name for themselves, thereby making us all proud to have shared the same alma mater with these eminent personalities.
There are two more names to be added to that list of phenomenal achievers. Both of these alumni have made it to the coveted "Wikipedia's list of prolific inventors".

ARUP BHATTACHARYYA - Metallurgy, 1960

Arup Bhattacharyya, an alumnus from the Batch of 1960, has made it to the list with 204 patents to his name. Having worked for many decades in multiple roles across companies like Foxboro Instruments, IBM, Motorola, and Micron Technology in Technical Leadership / Management / Consultancy / Advising and Fellowship, Arup da retired in 2000. But his retirement did not dent his hunger for invention, as he kept on with what he did best.
Below is a brief biodata on this eminent alumnus.

SARBAJIT RAKSHIT - Mechanical, 1997

The second alumnus of our beloved institution to also feature in this prestigious list, is Sarbajit Rakshit from the Batch of 1997, with a whopping 612 patents to his name. Sarbajit is based in Kolkata and just like Arup Bhattacharyya, has a strong IBM connection, having been with them for almost thirteen years. He has been featured in IBM's Master of Innovation. Working as a cyber security expert at IBM's Kolkata office, Sarbajit's ultimate professional goal is to improve people’s lives. Presently, he is focusing on technology to help the disabled. More details about his patents can be found in the link below.

News like this make us all feel immensely proud of our institution and its alumni. On behalf of GAABESU and the entire students and alumni fraternity, we congratulate  Arup Bhattacharyya and Sarbajit Rakshit and wish them even more such success in future. We definitely believe their exceptional achievements would inspire a whole generation of IIEST students and alumni, in their own journey as inventors.
