INVITATION OF 6TH PROF P K ROY MEMORIAL LECTURE

Dear All,
Like previous years, GAABESU, in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering of the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, is pleased to organize the 6th Professor Pradip Kumar Ray Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, 24 March 2026 at 4:30 PM in the Seminar Hall of the Civil Engineering Department.
Professor Pradip Kumar Ray, a distinguished alumnus of B.E. College (B.E. Civil, 1965), was widely respected as an accomplished engineer as well as a dedicated teacher of his beloved alma mater. Following his untimely demise in 2013, several alumni, including many of his batchmates, proposed instituting an annual memorial lecture in his honour to commemorate his valuable contributions as an engineer, an inspiring educator, and a person of exemplary character.
Accordingly, a memorial fund was created through voluntary contributions from alumni, and the expenses for organizing the lecture each year are met from this fund, which is administered by GAABESU.
We are pleased to inform you that Shri Rupak Sarkar, an eminent engineer and distinguished alumnus of B.E. College (B.E. Civil, 1981), with extensive professional contributions in India and abroad, has kindly agreed to deliver this year’s lecture on the topic “Tunnelling Engineering.”
